So Happy Valentine’s Day to those who love “love” and all things hearts and roses, Happy Hump Day to those who feel it is just another Wednesday and to those who tend to lean towards the anti-Valentine’s Day than Happy Anti-Valentine’s Day. So I was thinking how do we celebrate Anti-Valentine’s Day exactly? We first must set the mood for our evening. For some that might be a trip to the liquor store to buy that favorite wine, soda aisle for those who do not drink or juice section for those into a healthy lifestyle. Then head home find that favorite delivery number whether it is Chinese or one of those horrible “heart-shaped” pizzas the pizza chains are offering today (I mean even we can take pleasure in playing ‘Operation’ as we cut up the pizza right?) so then we sit down and watch one of these anti-love movies that I have gathered for us. These I have researched the “cream of the crop” anti-love movies so take a pick, kick back with that wine, eat that Chinese food or pizza (I suggest cutting the center out of that heart-shaped pizza to make yourself feel better) and enjoy one of these movies and celebrate your Anti-Valentine’s Day.
‘First Wives Club‘—For those who have loved and lost this movie classic starring Goldie Hawn, Bette Midler and Diane Keaton as the ex-wives who decide to seek revenge on the ex-husbands who decided to leave them for younger women. They decide that the best way to get even is through their pocketbooks. Hell Hath No Fury Like An Ex-Wife Scorned….
‘She-Devil’—This is an old 1980’s movie starring Roseanne Barr and Meryl Streep. Ruth Patchett (Roseanne Barr) as an overweight and overtired wife and mother who finds herself single after her husband Bob (Ed Begley Jr.) leaves her for romance writer Mary Fisher (Meryl Streep). Ruth decides she wants to destroy Bob and everything he loves one ASSET at a time. She does just that as well as build herself a powerful empire. Never underestimate the power of a pissed off woman.
‘What Lies Beneath‘—So in case you think your significant other may be cheating on you this might be the movie to watch with them. Claire (Michelle Pfeiffer) starts noticing some “paranormal” activity happening around her house. Her husband Norman (Harrison Ford) of course does not believe her. Claire does some digging and soon learns that her husband Norman has been a bad boy and the spirit of the girl he had an affair with and murdered is now possessing her body. Just goes to show a murderer can take a spirit from a body but she doesn’t need it to get her revenge….
‘Heathers‘—This is the cult classic for most but if you do not know this is the story of Veronica (Winona Ryder) who becomes tired of her place in the “Heathers” click and when she finds “romance” with J.D. (Christian Slater) she goes a little crazy. She has also found more than romance with J.D. when they decide to “kill” the head “Heather” and make it look like a suicide. They start a disturbing trend of murder, suicide and romance however when Veronica decides she wants out J.D. decides that he will carry on the trend with or without her. You know what they say Couples that Kill together, well I guess end up trying to kill each other….
‘Very Bad Things’—Kyle (Jon Favreau) and his friends go to Vegas for his bachelor party however when the stripper ends up dead the party turns into a chain reaction of death and the consequences that follow. Not EVERYTHING that happens in Vegas, Stays in Vegas….
So those are the five most Anti-Valentines Day Movie I can suggest dear readers. So enjoy these movies or share with me what your favorite Anti-Valentines Day movie I am always looking for good one to add to the list for next year…..
