So, Loki has been astounding us all since it aired a few weeks ago. With only two episodes to go, the show went and confirmed the existence of Vampires in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Now, Marvel fans are split. Some think it is a reference to the upcoming Blade movie. Others think Morbius could be joining the MCU!
The status of Morbius being in the MCU is something fans have been debating for months! The Morbius trailer featured some graffiti of Spider-Man on a wall as Jared Leto‘s character runs down an alley. In addition to that, the trailed featured Michael Keaton and fans have been assuming it was him as the MCU’s Vulture.
We don’t know that Michael Keaton’s MCU Adrian Toomes is the one in the trailer. It’s entirely possible that they’re using him as a Sony universe equivalent of The Vulture. That would certainly disappoint fans but it’s not impossible.
Sony has seemed more open about sharing a universe lately, though. This would be fantastic for Spider-Man fans, and would completely change the kind of Spider-Man stories we could see take place in the MCU.
The most exciting, and the one fans want to join the MCU most of all, is probably Venom! Venom: Let The Be Carnage will be releasing this year, and fans are excited to see a live-action Carnage for the first time ever. Even more awesome is Woody Harrelson will be the one portraying him.
We’d love to see Sony and the MCU merge into one universe. If only so we can see Tom Holland’s Spider-Man go toe-to-toe with Venom and Carnage. And since Morbius could be joining the MCU, that goal seems closer than ever!
Sony says there IS a plan in place to merge the universes. Or something along those lines, but we’ll have to wait until Spider-Man: No Way Home for details on that!
