Monday Night Match-up: Damien Darhk vs. Magneto
Well, it’s about that time, my friends, for me to ‘nerd out’ for another Monday Night Match-up, and we are back to DC vs Marvel style! So far you have voted via social media that Oliver Queen would take the crown versus Hawkeye. You voted that Captain America would beat Batman. Thor was voted to beat out Superman. Deathstroke killed The Winter Soldier. Sara beat Natasha by the mere single digits. Atom squashed Ant-Man in the final tally. Ghost Rider blazed past John Constantine for the win. Wonder Woman came out on top with a victory over Lady Sif. Deathstroke dominated once again against Frank Castle. Dare Devil pulled ahead of Green Arrow in a no-weapons melee match. Thor recently squashed the almighty Wonder Woman in an extremely close match. Colossus smashed Bane for a drastic victory. Deadshot out-shot Bullseye for an incredible victory. Katana sliced into Elektra for a brutal victory. Gandalf the White defeated Dumbledore in the greatest wizard battle ever held.
Let’s mix things up and match-up two villains! Neal McDonough is no stranger to the ‘hero’ universe, portraying Dum Dum Dugan in Marvel’s Captain America: The First Avenger and Agent Carter. In fact, he has also previously voiced The Green Arrow in various video games. When he was announced as Damien Darhk for Season 4, I was ecstatic. He always plays a phenomenal bad guy. Ian McKellen has portrayed the super villain Magento for multiple X-men films, and his performance has always been pretty fantastic!

Damien Darhk (Skills and Abilities)
- Dark Magic: Most of Damien’s powers came from an idol that channels dark energy (i.e. death and fear).
- Life-Force absorption: Damien had the ability siphon the life-force from people’s bodies and kill them, simply by touching them.
- Telekinesis: Damien was able to grip, move, and generally exert great amounts of force on objects and people without physically touching them. He could stop multiple projectiles, and throw people for extreme distances. He even killed a man through a television screen without physically being there.
- Teleportation: Damien could disappear and appear somewhere else, a power he used to catch his enemies off-guard.
- Enhanced strength: Damien had greater strength than a regular human. He had easily outmatched both Oliver and Malcolm Merlyn.
- Accelerated healing and durability: Damien was shown to have advanced healing powers and an incredible amount of durability.
- Longevity: Ra’s al Ghul revealed that Damien stole water from the Lazarus Pit when he left the League. This has allowed Damien to live
- Advanced Martial Artist Thanks to years of training with the League of Assassins, Damien was a master hand-to-hand combatant and martial artist, with over a century of experience.
- Master tactician: The founder and leader of H.I.V.E., Damien had been able keep his organization a secret from the world at large and avoid capture by Ra’s al Ghul and the league. He had also successfully hidden his true plans from Team Arrow. Damien has displayed high intelligence and has multiple lifetimes of knowledge.
Magneto (Skills and Abilities)
- Magnetokinesis: Magneto has comprehensive control over all forms of magnetism and utilizes that control to manipulate ferrous metals and achieve a variety of effects. He is able to crate Magnetic force fields, rays and he can even fly (magnetic flight) for long distances and various speeds.
- Metal/Matter Manipulation:Magneto can manipulate metal at the atomic level and make it take different forms.
- Metallic Bonding: Magneto has recently displayed the power to atomically bond metallic substances. This newly developed technique allows Magneto to blend metallic alloys with earth, water, and air (HoM).
- Electrokinesis: Magneto is capable of generating and projecting powerful bolts of electricity, due to his manipulation over the electromagnetic spectrum. He is capable of absorbing bolts of lightning, and projecting an electric aura around himself.
- Telepathic Resistance: Magneto has trained himself extensively for fighting telepaths, and is resistant to telepathic attack.
- Genius Intelligence: A mastermind, Magneto is a genius in various scientific fields. He is an expert in genetic engineering and mutation.
- Indomitable Will: Magneto will strive to complete his tasks, no matter what it takes.
Jules Vote: Damien Darhk. Physically, he is in better condition than Magneto and his extreme combative skills give him the edge.
Julia recently published her first novel, titled; Anomic. She is currently co-authoring a novel called ‘Snow Falls’. She has a B.A in Communications with concentrations in Professional Writing and Public Relations. She is also in the United States Army Reserves as a Military Police Officer, and is currently in the process of going back to school for her Masters Degree in Business. When she isn’t writing, she is co-owner of a film production studio called ‘Valentine Productions LLC’ and she frequently spends her weekends acting in films, or being a stuntwoman.
