‘Mission Impossible: Fallout’ Breaks Franchise’s own Records

The fan favorite film crossed another milestone last weekend as out of every entry in the series, this film had the best second weekend. Box Office Mojo reported that the action flick brought in another $35 million, making its total domestic revenue a whopping $124.4 million, and its global gross added up to $329.4 million. With all the numbers added, Mission Impossible:Fallout could surpass the previous flick in the franchise, Rogue Nation.
Fallout showed on the same weekend as Christopher Robin, the live-action Disney film which brought in an estimated $25 million over a period of three days, earning the film second place. Reports have it that Christopher Robin was made on a $75 million production budget and the initial projections were expected to be around $35 million.
The Spy Who Dumped Me took third place. The comedy film had a lot of negative reviews from critics and the numbers it earned over the weekend related to these negative reviews. It earned a mere $12.3 million on its opening weekend. The films coming in fourth and fifth in the box office this weekend were Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, which earned a total of $9 million and The Equalizer 2 which brought in about $8.8 million.
Mission Impossible: Fallout is now in theaters and it stars Tom Cruise, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, Sean Harris, Michelle Monaghan, Alec Baldwin, Henry Cavill, Angela Bassett and Vanessa Kirby.
