Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children is the film adaptation of Ransom Riggs’ novel of the same name, directed by Tim Burton. Miss Peregrine is a magical caretaker who watches and cares for the children known as “Peculiars” due to their unusual abilities and qualities – be it having the power to manipulate fire, being able to control air, or having a razor-teethed mouth in the back of their head.
The film highlights the abilities of the various “Peculiars,” as seen through the eyes of Jacob, the young man who goes looking for Miss Peregrine and her children, after hearing stories about them from his late grandfather.
