Did Mike Myers Just Confirm a New ‘Austin Powers’ Movie is in the Works?

Could there be another Austin Powers movie coming our way in the not-so-distant future? 21 years after Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery first premiered in theaters, film star Mike Myers is tossing out possible hints of a new film centered around the time-warped shagadellic spy.

This week while chatting with the folks over at Good Morning America, Myers teased a possible fourth film though this time, he sounds a little bit more convincing. When asked about the possiblity of another film, Myers crossed his arms and responded with a smirk smile, “I can neither confirm nor deny the existence or nonexistence of a movie should a movie like that exist or not exist.”

He immediately followed that up by saying, “It’s looking good! Yeah, so we’ll see,” a response which was met with approving and excited cheers from the studio audience.

Last year, while celebrating the 20th Anniversary of the first film’s release, Myers reminiced about the inspiration he drew from his father during the first film and commented on the possibility of making another film by saying,“I would love to do another, but you just have to see. I was devastated by my father’s death, but to have that turn into something that makes people happy is unbelievably satisfying. It’s that kind of stuff you never get used to or get tired of.”

The Austin Powers film series contains 3 films to date: Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery (1997), Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me (1999) and Austin Powers in Goldmember (2002).

Personally, I would LOVE to see Myers return to this role and to see Austin Powers’ take on modern day society, now 21 years after he was unfrozen. With Myers’ incredible comedic timing, a fourth Austin Powers film could be a welcomed breath of fresh air in theaters.

Check out Myers’ interview footage below. At around the 1:10 mark, he addresses the possible fourth film.
