Approximately 30 years ago, iconic actor Michael Keaton first donned the Batman cape and cowl, and to this day he is still said to be one of the best actors to portray the DC Hero. However, Keaton since then Keaton has taken on a couple dozen roles and more recently, a quite villainous one.

The actor may have signed on to play Spider-Man villain Vulture in the upcoming Marvel film, Spider-Man: Homecoming, but Keaton hasn’t quite let go of the Batman just yet. In an interview on The Last Show with Stephen Colbert, Keaton reminded the world of his Gotham roots with one powerful statement.

Colbert began naming all of Keaton’s iconic roles and when he got to Batman, Keaton let Colbert know that you never stop being Batman once you’ve put on that cape, you never really stop being the character.

“I am Batman,” Keaton stated during the interview

The actor first played the hero in the 1989  Batman movie which was directed by Tim Burton.

Keaton talked about what it was like to star in a Marvel movie after years of being known in the DC-verse as Batman.

The actor recently appeared on Ellen, where he talked about the differences of playing a villain in the MCU as opposed to the hero in the DCU.

“One’s a bat and the other’s a spider. They’re really different in terms of how they’re made. You know think about what Tim did, Tim Burton, who to me is a just, there’s no one like him. He’s truly unique and an artist and I love working with him. The Marvel people are kind of amazing. There’s all that interconnected lore of you know, Iron Man and all the, I’ll tell you there are so many characters. You have no idea how many characters there are in the Marvel world that we haven’t even heard of yet.”

We are definitely looking forward to seeing what Keaton brings to the screen when Spider-Man: Homecoming swings into theaters on July 7th, 2017.
