Fans took a nostalgic trip back in time during Saturday night’s Coldplay concert in New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium.
During the band’s show, a clip rolled on the big screen showing lead singer Chris Martin’s son, Moses Martin, requesting a song from the band. Moses says, “I was just wondering if you could play a song from both of our favorite movie, Back to the Future. I love you so much!” How could Martin pass up a request like that!
Martin and the band began playing The Penguins’ “Earth Angel,” the slow dance song from the “Enchantment Under the Sea Dance” where Marty McFly’s parents kiss for the first time. Part way through the song, Martin announces to the crowd, “Ladies and Gentlemen. From the greatest movie of all time. Please welcome Mr. Michael J. Fox!”
Fox takes the stage, Les Paul in hand, and joins the band for the remainder of the song. But, they weren’t quite finished yet. When Martin asks the crowd if they wanted to hear one more song with Fox, the crowd’s cheers were met with an awesome performance of Chuck Berry’s “Johnny B. Goode” with Fox taking the lead guitar solo.
Check out the AWESOME and timeless performance from Coldplay and Michael J. Fox below.
