It appears that Michael B. Jordan is just destined to be a part of the superhero world. The Fantastic Four and Black Panther star has a new superhero series on the horizon that just found a home at Netflix.
The series is a high-concept family drama called Raising Dion. It was originally a short film directed by Dennis Liu and follows a single mother named Nicole and the relationship she has with her young son Dion who begins to have magical and supernatural abilities. Michael B. Jordan will be playing Nicole’s late husband in the series.
Jordan will executive-producing alongside Carol Barbee (UnREAL) and director Dennis Liu.
“I started this project many years ago because I wanted to see more diverse representation on film and television and I’m excited to partner with Netflix and MACRO, who I know shares that commitment. More than ever, we need more stories told from different points of view and my hope with Raising Dion is to create a cinematic experience for all families that will lift your spirits and make you laugh and cry,” Liu said in a statement.
What do you think about Jordan’s new show?
Having studied Media & Writing at James Madison University, I always knew that I wanted to do some type of creative writing, but being able to write about zombies, Starks, and superheroes on a daily basis for Fan Fest is my actual dream. While I probably shouldn’t be as proud as I am to be so similar to Nick Miller, I do hope to one day write my own “Pepperwood Chronicles’.
