The Sons of Anarchy theme song warned us that you’re “on the devil’s path until you die” and four years after we said goodbye, here we are again, gearing up to head back into the dangerously corrupt world of motorcycle clubs with Mayans MC.
Sons creator Kurt Sutter spoke of potential spin-offs and prequels throughout the show’s seven-season run before finally announcing that we’d be diving into the world of a post-Sons Mayans Motorcycle Club and ever since we’ve been anxiously awaiting to hear when the show would be premiering. Now, we finally have an answer – September 4th at 10/9c.! FX announced the news on their Instagram account. Check it out below!
Taking place after the events of Sons of Anarchy, Mayans MC will follow EZ Reyes, a former golden boy now fresh out of prison, as a prospect in the Mayan MC charter on the California-Mexico border who must carve out his new outlaw identity. JD Pardo will be taking on the lead role of Reyes with Emilio Rivera reprising his role as Marcus Alvarez, the president of the Mayans Motorcycle Club.
FX gave Mayans a straight to series 10-episode order, and despite some setbacks with the initial pilot, including reshoots and recasting, the network has the utmost faith in Sutter’s ability to take audiences back into the MC universe.
“Kurt Sutter is a master storyteller and Mayans MC has the raw energy and intensity that are hallmarks of his signature style. Thanks to Kurt, co-creator Elgin James and this amazing cast, Mayans MC builds on the legacy of Sons of Anarchy, taking it in a thrilling new direction that we can’t wait for the world to see,” FX president of original programming Nick Grad told TheHollywood Reporter
The series also stars Law & Order: SVU alum Danny Pinto, Richard Cabral, Clayton Cardenas and Michael Irby, Edward James Olmos, Sarah Bolger, and Antonio Jaramillo. So, remember to mark your calendars for September 4th and let us all continue on this devil’s path until we die!
Having studied Media & Writing at James Madison University, I always knew that I wanted to do some type of creative writing, but being able to write about zombies, Starks, and superheroes on a daily basis for Fan Fest is my actual dream. While I probably shouldn’t be as proud as I am to be so similar to Nick Miller, I do hope to one day write my own “Pepperwood Chronicles’.
