Marvel’s ‘Werewolf By Night’ Trailer is Terrifying

The much anticipated Werewolf by Night Halloween special arrived this weekend, and with it came the first teaser for the upcoming Disney+ addition. The release of the trailer surprised long-time fans of Marvel Horror, as it gave them a glimpse at one of their most beloved characters in the genre: Man-Thing!

Ted Sallis has appeared in live-action before, contrary to popular belief. In 2005, Lionsgate and SYFY produced an independent horror film featuring one version of the character. Despite being made before the Marvel Cinematic Universe existed, Man-Thing director Brett Leonard told us earlier this year that Kevin Feige had a hand in developing the film.

“He was actually one of the greatest supporting energies because when I sent the dailies, he really loved the dailies,” Leonard said in our 2005 director’s commentary. “He loved how I was moving the camera. He was very, very helpful. He was a great guy. And he was just a sweet man, and is to this day. His success is well deserved. He was a great executive to work with.”

The filmmaker said, “So I always think, well, there you go. I got somebody in Marvel that loved this film. Because this is, again, it’s an outlier in the Marvel universe. The way it was made, the budget it was made at, how it was made, what the scripting process was and how that changed. All of those things were unique in this film.”

Werewolf by Night will be available to watch on Disney+ in October, and Man-Thing (2007) can be found streaming on Tubi.
