Marvel’s ’The Punisher’ Official Release Date Revealed with a Brand New Trailer

Earlier this month, Marvel fans expected to hear a huge announcement regarding the highly-anticipated upcoming new series, The Punisher.  Cast and crew from the Netflix series were originally scheduled to attend New York Comic Con and, it was anticipated that during their Saturday panel, a new trailer would be dropped along with the official release date for the series.  However, out of respect for the victims of the Las Vegas shooting which occurred just days prior and due to the sensitivity to gun violence in the wake of the tragedy, Marvel made the decision to pull the panel from the New York Comic Con schedule.

Now, just about two weeks later, Marvel and Netflix have officially announced that the first 13-episode season of The Punisher will be available via the streaming service on November 17th.  The announcement was made at the end of a brand new trailer for the series.  Check it out:

Details surrounding the series release date had been kept tightly under wraps and fans were frequently teased with thrilling trailers showing Jon Bernthal’s Frank Castle beginning his mission to avenge his family’s murders but, the release date shown at the end was always redacted.  The release date was also removed from press materials, posters and pretty much anything else relating to the series but now, the secret is out!

The official synopsis for the series is as follows:

After exacting revenge on those responsible for the death of his wife and children, Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) uncovers a conspiracy that runs far deeper than New York’s criminal underworld. Now known throughout the city as The Punisher, he must discover the truth about injustices that affect more than his family alone.

Bernthal will reprise his role as Frank Castle which he first debuted in Marvel’s Daredevil. The rest of the cast includes Jason R. Moore (Curtis Hoyle), Ebon Moss-Bachrach (David Lieberman), Michael Nathanson (Sam Stein), Jaime Ray Newman (Sarah Lieberman), Amber Rose Revah (Dinah Madani), Paul Schulze (Rawlins), Daniel Webber (Lewis Walcott), Deborah Ann Woll (Karen Page), KobiFrumer (Zach Lieberman), Ripley Sobo (Leo Lieberman), Kelli Barrett (Maria Castle), Ben Barnes (Billy Russo), and Aidan Pierce Brennan (Frank Castle Jr.).

This series is the sixth series ordered for Netflix so far as part of an overall deal with Marvel Television in addition to Luke Cage, Iron Fist, The Defenders, Jessica Jones and Daredevil.

The Punisher will be released just before the holidays kick into high gear.  What better time to settle in for a Netflix binge-a-thon!  Marvel’s The Punisher will be available on Netflix streaming service on November 17, 2017.  Are you excited?
