Marvel Releases Iron Man 2020 Trailer

Marvel released a trailer for its new comic book series Iron Man 2020. Dan Slott and Christos Gage are writing the new series. Pete Woods will be handling the artwork for the six books.

We will learn of Tony Stark’s fate and then see his brother, Arno, suit up to become Iron Man. In 1984, Stark receives a visit from a future version of Iron Man who is from the year 2020.

Marvel decided to give readers the other side of that story by having Arno appear once again as Iron Man. The first book hits shelves in January and the teaser trailer states:

“The time has come for machinekind to unite and demand equal rights! But not all humans think that A.I.s are worthy and Arno Stark – Iron Man 2020 – is one of them.”

A hero from the future, Iron Man is ready to combat the problems of today. Arno Stark will combat the threats of Artificial Intelligence.

The trailer also reveals other comic book titles that are forthcoming, including Force Works 2020, Machine Man 2020, and Rescue 2020.

Here’s Marvel’s official description of Iron Man 2020:

“The future is now! Artificial Intelligences present a clear and present danger to humanity and must be brought to heel! The Robot Rebellion battles for the establishment of robot rights! And Arno Stark IS Iron Man!”

After a few appearances here and there in other books, Arno Stark was featured in the IRON MAN 2020 one-shot in 1994, by Walt Simonson, Bob Wiacek, and William Rosado. There, readers saw a man not only struggling with the stability of his own company, but with the burden of carrying on Iron Man’s legacy.

We’ve seen Arno Stark in other places. An Arno Stark has also appeared in Earth-616—and not just the one from 2020 jumping through time. This one was actually revealed as Tony Stark’s twin brother who had been kept a secret by Tony’s adoptive parents Howard and Maria.

Having spent most of his life in an elaborate life support system, he now enjoys the world. Lately, he’s been seen representing the Maria Stark Foundation around the globe (as seen in TONY STARK: IRON MAN #5 and #9).
