Marvel Announces Their First Scripted Podcast

Could this be the start of the Marvel Audio Universe? Marvel just announced that they have formed a new partnership with the popular podcasting platform Stitcher to bring listeners a new scripted mini-series titled Wolverine: The Long Night.

Marvel describes the ten-episode podcast as “a captivating hybrid of mystery and the larger-scale fantasy of the Marvel Universe.” It will follow two government agents who suspect that a man named Logan could be responsible for a series of murders in the fictional town of Burns, Alaska. Logan/Wolverine will be played by The Hobbit and Hannibal actor Richard Armitage. The series will be written by DC comics writer and novelist Ben Percy.

This is a huge development in the Marvel Universe, which has already taken over the film and television superhero world, with new adaptations like Hulu’s The Runaways still finding huge popularity amongst critics and fans.

Wolverine: The Long Night brings our fans a whole new way to experience our iconic characters and the Marvel Universe. This tremendous cast will bring a thrilling level of intrigue and drama to our listeners. The character of Logan and this landscape make it the ideal premiere vehicle for us, and we’re excited to continue to explore the dynamic possibilities of the podcast medium,” said Dan Silver (VP, Head of Platforms and Content for Marvel New Media).

The podcast is slated to launch in Spring 2018. What do you think about Marvel getting into the podcast game? Will you listen?
