Mandy Moore Hopes These Questions get Answered in Season 2 of This Is Us

Fans of This Is Us are used to living with a constant stream of questions going in their head about the series and what’s going to happen next. It’s the kind of show that makes you want to know all the answers at the same time that it rewards you for your patience.

Before it even wrapped up its first season, it was already renewed for two more, which shows how many people invited the series and these characters into their lives. It’s not a thriller, not some fast paced series that leaves you coming back to find out what happens next – it makes you want to watch the good things happen to these people just as much as the not so great ones. People normally stay tuned to television for the drama or the ‘wow factor’ and while This Is Us has those, it has heart, too. That’s what matters.

The cast members of the series love it as much as fans and, much like the fans, they have their own lists of questions they want answered when the next season comes along. In a recent interview, Mandy Moore spoke a bit about what she hopes to see next season and her questions make it clear that they’re not well aware of what happens to their characters in the future, nor do they know all of the details about their pasts. They do, however, know that what they’re doing is important to them and to fans so they take that responsibility seriously.

What Mandy is curious about is what we’ve been wondering ourselves, plus she brings up a point that we’d sort of just…looked over in the midst of everything else. It just goes to show that there are so many things in this series that are connected.

‘Because I know a lot of what happens, I’m excited to see, which I don’t think will happen in season 2, I want to see the evolution of Rebecca and Miguel’s relationship, like how that happened. I’ve heard that that potentially will be later in season 2, maybe beginning of season 3, and I want to know what happened with Rebecca and Kate’s relationship, why it’s fractured, and why there’s that disconnect.‘

We’re curious to know what started the relationship between Rebecca and Miguel too, it’s one of our most pressing questions, in fact. However, when we think of Kate we so often get lost in how she blames herself for her father’s death as well as her relationship with Toby and the obstacles she’s overcoming there – we sort of left the relationship strain between her and her mother lying on the backburner. We really would like to know what happened there, and did it have something to do with her and Miguel, perhaps how soon they got together, or that it happened at all?

From the end of the pilot episode to the last moments in the season finale, twists and surprises were intricately set into the story line in a way that made the series all the more real. Life isn’t what we expect it to be, love isn’t what we so often plan, and if we allow room for the unexpected, we wind up with more than we ever would have imagined.
