Maisie Williams Says a Bloody Goodbye to ‘Game of Thrones’

Game of Thrones‘ production on its final season is winding down and, one by one, the cast is beginning to say goodbye to the show they’ve called home for the past eight seasons.

After Game of Thrones officially wraps production, series star Kit Harington says he’s most looking forward to changing his appearance and shedding the look of his character Jon Snow. Emilia Clarke (Daenerys) officially said her goodbyes in a  heartfelt social media post and Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark) is taking memories of the show with her forever as she recently got a tattoo commemorating her time on the series. Now, it’s Maisie Williams’ turn.

Williams, who has played Arya Stark since the very beginning of the series, took to Instagram to share her very own goodbye message in true Arya fashion. The actress posted a picture of bloodied sneakers possibly symbolizing the completion of an epic final battle scene with a message reading, “Goodbye Belfast. goodbye, Arya. goodbye game of thrones. What a joy I’ve had. Here’s to the adventures to come.”

Perhaps the most interesting part of her post is her choice of hashtags. Williams’ used the hashtags, “#lastwomanstanding #barely#immasleepforthenextfouryears#justkiddingidontsleep.” The ‘last woman standing’ hashtag is of particular interest to Game of Thrones fans. Could Arya be the sole survivor of the Stark women? What could this mean for Sansa?

The final season of Game of Thrones is one of the most highly-anticipated television series events ever. The eighth season will be the epic conclusion of the battle for the Irone Throne.

In addition to the eighth and final season, HBO recently announced that one of the potential Game of Thrones spinoff series received a pilot order from the network giving fans comfort that, though the original series might be coming to an end, there is still more story to be told once the final chapter of the HBO series airs.

The final season of the Game of Thrones series is expected to air sometime in 2019. No formal premiere date has yet been announced.
