Get ready for more twists and turns from one of today’s most prominent filmmakers. Universal Pictures has announced that they have two new feature film projects in the works with M. Night Shyamalan leading the charge.
Previously, Universal and Shyamalan have partnered on such hit films as The Visit, Split, and Glass. The two new thrillers are currently untitled but already have projected release dates. The first film is set to hit theaters on February 26, 2021, and the second on February 17, 2023.

Shyamalan spoke on the importance of original films, and how he feels Universal is the perfect studio for his next projects. He said:
[row]“There are wonderful studios out there, but Universal has made it a mandate to release original films. They are the best at finding an audience for new stories with unexpected tones. I believe original films are crucial to the longevity of the theatrical experience. I am so excited to be working with them again and bringing new stories to the movie screen for years to come.”[/row]
Shyamalan’s most recent Universal films both topped the box office. The 2019 release of Glass earned nearly $250 million worldwide. It debuted at number 1 at the box office and held that spot for three weeks. Split also debuted at number 1, holding on to the place for three weeks during its 2017 re-release in theaters.
Next up for Shyamalan is the Apple TV+ series Servant. The series will be a psychological thriller shown in 10 half-hour episodes. Shyamalan is executive producing as well as directing two episodes, including the pilot.
