This week Riverdale will officially say goodbye to Luke Perry in “Chapter fifty-four: Fear the Reaper.”
This week’s episode was the last that Perry got to film prior to his sudden death on March 4. Showrunner and executive producer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa tweeted that while this with be Perry’s last episode, there will be a “beautiful, true moment” between Perry’s Fred Andrews and Kj Apa’s Archie.
This week’s #Riverdale is the last episode Luke filmed. As always, Fred’s imparting words of wisdom to Archie. A beautiful, true moment between a father and his son. Wish these scenes could go on forever…❤️🏆💎👨🏻💻 pic.twitter.com/meokbvo0Wt

The cast and creator have said they have a plan for Fred’s exit, but nothing more has been revealed.
“We know that we have to address it in some way, but we’re giving ourselves a little bit of time and space before we figure out the best way to honor him,” Aguirre-Sacasa said. “… His spirit — which was so generous and wise and vivacious — we hope will infuse every episode, so in my mind, every episode for the rest of time on ‘Riverdale’ will have a bit of Luke in it.”
Every episode since Perry’s passing has been dedicated to him and according to Aguirre-Sacasa, so will all future episodes.
“He was a wonderful man, and he’ll be dearly missed,” Sprouse said on the Today Show. “But he was also one of those guys that would prefer all of us laughing and telling stories about how wonderful he was.”
Perry’s final episode of “Riverdale” is scheduled to air Wednesday, April 24 at 8 p.m.
