‘Lord of the Rings’ gets Multi-Season Deal at Amazon
Amazon has officially given the green light and made a multi-season commitment to illustrating a television adaptation of J.R.R Tolkein’s world-wide phenomenon, Lord of The Rings.
Now, here is an interesting twist to this upcoming series. If you were worried that Peter Jackson’s spectacular Oscar-winning films will be forgotten, worry not. According to EW, the series is reported to explore storylines set before the events in the first Lord of the Rings novel; The Fellowship of the Ring.
In addition to this pre-series, Amazon’s deal also includes a potential addition of a spin-off series as well. Matt Galsor, a representative for the Tolkein Estate and Trust and HarperCollins, is extremely ecstatic about the mult-season deal:
“We are delighted that Amazon, with its longstanding commitment to literature, is the home of the first-ever multi-season television series for The Lord of the Rings. Sharon and the team at Amazon Studios have exceptional ideas to bring to the screen previously unexplored stories based on J.R.R. Tolkien’s original writings.”
As of yet, there has been no set cast or premiere date. Regardless of this, we are still highly excited. Sounds like a great time to subscribe to Amazon Prime, where the series will eventually stream.
