Loki: Episode 2 Features Avengers Callback To A Big Black Widow Moment In An Easter Egg! Did You Spot It?

Loki gave us its second episode on Wednesday, and what an episode it was! We got some interesting information about the TVA, found out where the second Loki was hiding, and… also got our first look at this alternate Loki. Episode 2 features an Avengers callback to a big Black Widow moment in a tiny little easter egg. We want to see if you guys caught it!

From this point forward this article will contain spoilers for Loki Episode 2, so this is your warning in case you haven’t watched it yet!

Loki isn’t wasting any time in building momentum with its storyline. This makes sense, considering the season is only getting 6 episodes. The show may have already changed the Marvel universe as a whole, which is impressive with only two episodes.

The last ten minutes of the episode really changed the game! It introduced Lady Loki (Sophia Di Martino), who was interesting when compared to our Loki (Tom Hiddleston). She also bombed the sacred timeline with reset charges, so…

This easter egg can be noticed around the same time as that! See, the reset charges cause all kinds of issues at different places across the MCU. One of those locations includes Vormir. Does that name sound familiar? It should. It was featured in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.

That’s the place where Gamora was murdered and the same place where Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson) sacrificed herself to save the universe. It was one of the most heartbreaking moments of the film.

Take a look at this photo below, which shows where some of the timelines are deviating. Sure, it’s many… many years after the Infinity Saga but it’s still a pretty awesome callback!

Johansson spoke to ComicBook.com and several other outlets who were invited to the set in 2019, “In some weird, messed up, backward way, if any person could be truly altruistic and totally weird, because nobody is obviously, but actually the act that she… Her sacrifice was a truly altruistic offering, I think she really sacrifices herself, in a way, no just really out of love, for love, she saves her friend. She saves everyone, but she saves her friend. And I think that just being in that kind of head space and being able to make that decision, that selfless decision, that selfless act, is so incredibly powerful. It’s amazing that she could be in that head space to do that.”
