With all of the recent live-action Disney announcements, it’s no wonder that Lilo & Stitch is next.
This live-action film will blend the live-action with CG, much like how Disney is approaching its Aladdin remake.
Lilo & Stitch is set in Hawaii and focuses on the friendship between a lonely young girl and an alien killing machine who crashes on Earth and tries to pass as a dog. The film sparked a sequel as well as a TV series.
The original Lilo & Stitch was written and directed by Dean DeBlois and Chris Sanders, who also wrote the How to Train Your Dragon series. The remake will be penned by Mike Van Waes and produced by Dan Lin and Jonathan Elrich.
This project joins other recent Disney live-action remakes Cinderella, The Jungle Book, Beauty and the Beast and Pete’s Dragon as well as upcoming films Dumbo, The Lion King, Mulan, Lady and the Tramp and Aladdin.
There is no word yet on when production will begin or who will be in the cast.
