From Sony Pictures, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood takes place in Los Angeles during 1969, at the height of hippy Hollywood. The two lead characters are Rick Dalton (Leonardo DiCaprio), former star of a western TV series, and his longtime stunt double Cliff Booth (Brad Pitt). Both are struggling to make it in a Hollywood they don’t recognize anymore, but Rick has a very famous next-door neighbor – Sharon Tate (Margot Robbie). Tate was famously married to Roman Polanski and was pregnant with their first child when she and four others were brutally murdered by Charles Manson’s (Damon Herriman) cult followers.
In addition to DiCaprio, Pitt, Robbie, and Herriman the film’s cast also includes Burt Reynolds, Dakota Fanning as Manson family associate Lynette “Squeaky” Fromme, Al Pacino, Damian Lewis as iconic actor Steve McQueen, Emile Hirsch, James Marsden, Tim Roth, and Timothy Olyphant.
The film is written and directed by Quentin Tarantino and is his ninth feature film overall and will be set against the backdrop of the 1969 Tate murders. Georgia Kacandes is executive producer while David Heyman and Shannon McIntosh produce along with Tarantino as well.
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood hits theaters on July 26, 2019.
