When you asked the cast of The Walking Dead what their favorite episodes to film were in season 7, you’d have a hard time getting an answer. Aside from the last episode, and maybe a few moments in those close to the end of the season, the episodes were as hard to watch as they were to film.

No one on set was happy, they missed the positivity on set as much as they missed the idea of working with one another. While they were still as close as ever off camera, on camera, their struggle wasn’t something they had to work hard to fake.

So when the cast has been asked about the upcoming season, their attitudes have changed drastically. We get answers that make us as excited as they are for what’s coming next.

Lennie James is the latest cast member to talk about season 8 and he’s made us both excited and extremely curious.

When asked, James said one of his favorite scenes to film was a sparring session between himself and Tom Payne. He can’t give away any information at all about the scene, but when he says it’s a moment that won’t be easily forgotten, well, we’re ready to see it.

All I can say is it was a huge amount of fun to play around with Tom in that particular scene. I really can’t say much about anything about even hinting at where that scene comes and what it is, what it foreshadows, or what it’s in preparation for, but yeah, that’s pretty much all I can say except for it’s not going to be a moment that’s going to be easily forgotten.

He also talked about the difference between seasons 7 & 8, and like some of his costars, he says the big difference is that season 8 is THE war, it’s happening – and it’s going to be bigger than we could have imagined.

We can’t wait to see what the 100th episode has in store for us, and subsequently, what major changes season 8 brings. We enjoyed season 7, as much as a person could, but now we’re ready to see what all of that building up was really for.

The Walking Dead premieres on AMC on October 22nd.
