Legends of Tomorrow Recap ‘Land of the Lost’
From his prison, Rip calls to Gideon, trying to let her release him. She tells him that she was instructed not to listen to his orders. Rip then gives her an override code and gains control of the Waverider. He activates the self-destruct as he heads for the drop ship, amulet in hand. Mick, Amaya, and Nate intercept him while Jax works to shut down Gideon. They manage to avoid total disaster, but crash land 70 million years in the past. Wonderful.
Nate, Ray, and Amaya set out to recover a piece of the ship preventing them from leaving while the others deal with the Rip problem. Mick tells them about the Time Masters sharing consciousness with him in order to make him complacent. They can get into Rip’s mind and hopefully free him from whatever the Legion did to him. Sara and Jax will go in while Mick and Stein troubleshoot. They awake in Rip’s mind aboard the Waverider, which is overrun by Vandal Savage’s goons. They are easy to take down, but then they are confronted by evil versions of themselves. Sara sends Jax to find Rip while she fights an evil Sara, Mick, and Ray. They overpower her and throw her into the brig, where she meets up with Rip.
Back in the real world, Ray, Nate, and Amaya are traveling across Ray’s old stomping grounds (from when he got stranded at the beginning of the season). There is a bit of a problem as Ray’s old T-Rex buddy isn’t hibernating. Turns out that the piece of the ship is in her nest. Before retrieving it, Amaya and Nate have a whole lot of moments as Amaya decides to throw caution to the wind and pursue a relationship with Nate. Ray has picked up on their romance and tells Nate that he can’t be with her. He will jeopardize the future and put a lot of people at risk. Ray tells Nate about Mara and the hero she becomes. He also says that Amaya will be killed by a village raid. Nate wants to tell Amaya the truth of her future, but doesn’t do it.
They retrieve the piece of the ship after Amaya tames the T-Rex (which was pretty awesome). Nate tells Ray that he isn’t necessarily going to break off his relationship with Amaya, he just isn’t going to let it progress any further. Keep telling yourself that, Nate.
In Rip’s mind, Sara is trying to talk Rip down, but he believes that she is evil and the one who imprisoned him. Somewhere else on the ship, Jax hears Morse Code and finds himself face-to-face with Gideon. For real, she’s a human in Rip’s mind. He and Gideon find Rip and Sara, who has convinced Rip that she isn’t here to hurt him. Gideon informs them that the only way to break Rip out of the prison is to remind him of what’s real. And where can they jolt his memories? His study. They head there, but are stopped by the evil Legends. Jax and Sara hold them off while Rip and Gideon continue.
In the study, Rip is still having a hard time connecting to who he really is. Gideon helps him find the truth, and that’s when his mind starts to collapse. Sara and Jax escape before they are trapped there. Gideon and Rip are left alone and he thanks her for everything she’s done for him. She has always been there. They kiss as his mind collapses.
But don’t worry, Rip wakes up in the real world with his memories restored. Yay! Now that he’s back, the Legends will be able to find the location of the final piece of the Spear. Unfortunately, the Legion is already hot on its trail. Looks like we will be heading into outer space next week.
Next week’s episode is entitled ‘Moonshot.’
