Lauren Cohan’s ‘Whiskey Cavalier’ Pilot Picked Up to Series by ABC

Lauren Cohan’s new drama has officially been picked up to series by ABC.

The Walking Dead star landed the lead role in the network’s pilot Whiskey Cavalier back in February. She is joined by a stellar cast including Scott Foley, Anita Ortiz, Tyler James Williams and Vir Das.

According to Deadline, “Whiskey Cavalier is a high-octane, hour-long action dramedy that follows the adventures of tough but tender FBI super-agent Will Chase (codename: “Whiskey Cavalier”), played by Scott Foley. Following an emotional break-up, Chase is assigned to work with badass CIA operative Francesca “Frankie” Trowbridge (codename: “Fiery Tribune”), played by Lauren Cohan. Together, they lead an inter-agency team of flawed, funny and heroic spies who periodically save the world (and each other) while navigating the rocky roads of friendship, romance, and office politics.”

The new action-dramedy is being developed by Bill Lawrence, Dave Hemingson, and Warner Bros. TV.  Hemingson is penning the script with Peter Atencio onboard to direct.

The series pick up leads to some questions regarding Cohan’s role on The Walking Dead. Earlier this year, it was unclear if she would be returning to the series for its 9th season, however, Cohan announced last month that she had officially signed on and would be reprising her role as Maggie for at least six episodes. Now that Whiskey Cavalier has officially been picked up to series, Deadline reports that Cohan would be clear to film episodes of The Walking Dead during hiatus from the ABC drama.
