Laura Gilbert: Make Your Own Harley Club Dress!

Hello, fellow aspiring prop builders and cosplayers!

Last time I came around and talked about how you could make the Captain America Infinity War foam shields by ‘Odin Makes.’ Once I got in the flow of that article, and I finally published that amazing piece, I was ready to share more. I thought: ‘Why don’t I go a step further, and share something that inspired me to start cosplaying two years ago?‘ That’s what I’ll be doing today.

If you don’t know her already, she’s the infamous Harley Quinn cosplayer from Australia, Laura Gilbert!

Recently, Laura shared her adventure on how she’d be making her new Harley club dress out of a gold metal mesh fabric. Mark my words, it looks A-MA-ZING. Watch how Laura made her club dress in the videos below.

Laura’s Vlogs are so lovely to watch. Even though the last video is 23 minutes long, it doesn’t feel like you’re watching a long video.  This dress took many hours to make, some night work and some math. The result, however, looked fantastic! You can see she and Natasha Rose put a lot of work into the dress and it shows. Look at the result below:

She’s one of the reasons I dared myself to get out my mom’s old sewing machine and start doing what I love again. She’s been a big inspiration for showing me to always better the cosplays that I have. I will try to make this dress myself in the future. Thank you, Laura!
