Krypton has officially been ordered to series by the SYFY network!!

The network is in the process of revamping and is intending to do what ever they can to capture audiences of fantasy, science fiction, horror, and comic bookc genres. Their first step and attempt will be Krypton.

It is said to take place 2 generations before the birth of Kal-el or Superman. It will focus on the his grandfather, Seyg-El, and his struggle to clear the family’s name. Cameron Cuffe will star in the lead role.

The news that Krypton was in the works has been talked about for some time. A leaked teaser from last week reignited fan excitement. And now, a year later, It is finally happening!!! The teaser trailer has since been removed from sites per the request of SyFy and NBC Universal.

President of Entertainment Networks for NBC Universal Cable Entertainment, Chris McCumber was asked when we could be expecting a premiere date. He stated that the only thing that has been filmed was the pilot and that the series, itself, is currently in the beginning of production. He went on to say that no official premiere date has been set yet but that his best guess would be “Q1 2018, at the earliest.”

So hopefully all continues to head in the right direction and we’ll hear information regarding a premiere date in the near future.

The official Krypton synopsis is as follows:

Set two generations before the destruction of the legendary Man of Steel’s home planet, KRYPTON follows Superman’s grandfather (Cameron Cuffe, “The Halcyon”) — whose House of El was ostracized and shamed — as he fights to redeem his family’s honor and save his beloved world from chaos. Based on DC characters, KRYPTON is from Warner Horizon Scripted Television and is executive produced by David S. Goyer (“Man of Steel,” “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” “The Dark Knight” trilogy) through his Phantom Four banner. Damian Kindler (“Sleepy Hollow”) will serve as executive producer and showrunner.

In addition to Cuffe, KRYPTON stars Georgina Campbell (“Broadchurch”), Elliot Cowan (“Da Vinci’s Demons”), Ann Ogbomo (“World War Z”), Rasmus Hardiker (“Your Highness”), Wallis Day (“Will”), Aaron Pierre (“Tennison”) with Ian McElhinney (“Game of Thrones”).

The pilot teleplay was written by Goyer and Kindler, from a story by Ian Goldberg (“Once Upon a Time,” “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles”) & Goyer, with Colm McCarthy (“She Who Brings Gifts,” “Peaky Blinders”) serving as director and co-executive producer. KRYPTON is based on characters created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, published by DC
