The Sold Out ‘Kingdom Hearts: The Story So Far’ Collection Returns to Stores Due to Demand

Due to popular demand Square Enix has decided to re-release Kingdom Hearts: The Story So Far in the US.  The studio also announced that Canada and Latin America will be getting the collection on March 15th, 2019.

Kingdom Hearts: The Story So Far was originally released in 2018 in a limited run, where it quickly sold out. This left many unhappy, especially new fans of the series who wanted to experience Sora’s full journey before jumping into Kingdom Hearts 3.  Sure, other compilations exist with a few games each, but for those unfamiliar with the story it was confusing as to where to start and The Story So Far had made it easy, putting all the games in one location and in the correct order.  The only other choice players had was to pay the ridiculous prices that resellers on outlets, such as eBay, were demanding. Thankfully, Square Enix heard the public’s outcry and made the decision to re-release the collection.

Kingdom Hearts: The Story So Far includes every Kingdom Hearts entry needed to completely understand the backstory and to be fully prepared for Kingdom Hearts 3. Here’s what the collection contains:

Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX

  • Kingdom Hearts Final MIX
  • Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of Memories
  • Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days (HD Remastered Cinematics)
  • Kingdom Hearts II Final MIX
  • Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep Final MIX
  • Kingdom Hearts Re: Coded (HD Remastered Cinematics)

Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue

  • Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance HD
  • Kingdom Hearts 0.2 Birth by Sleep – A Fragmentary Passage –
  • Kingdom Hearts X Back Cover (Movie)

The collection contains hundreds of hours of gameplay, five full games (Kingdom Hearts 1 & 2, Chain of Memories, Birth by Sleep and Dream Drop Distance HD), a short three hour game chapter (A Fragmentary Passage), and three movies (358/2 Days, Re:Coded and Back Cover). 358/2 Days and Re:Coded are handheld games which had their gameplay sections removed and story told through remastered HD cutscenes, each being about three hours in length. Back Cover is about an hour long and features HD cinematics telling the story of the mobile games.

The collection has an incredible MSRP of only $39.99 and is rated E10+. You can purchase the game now through Best Buy, Gamestop and other entertainment outlets.
