Kevin Feige Says the MCU Will Continue on Disney +

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been around for a decade. Studio president Kevin Feige is looking back and ahead at what’s to come for the studio moving into the new year.
The MCU has impressed fans with it’s ability to take separate heroes and focus on them individually, and then bring the group together to tell epic stories. Not every character has been given its own film, though. There is a plethora of story to work with, and heroes that have yet to truly shine.
Disney + is about to come in and change the way we’ve looked at the MCU over its first decade. It will launch in 2019 with a series called Loki, starring Tom Hiddleston, who played him in the MCU. Kevin Feige is clarifying now that this will remain part of the MCU.
In an interview with Variety, Feige spoke about the future of the studio and a lot about Disney + plans. He says that developing titles for the service will give Marvel even more to work with.
“When we announced ten movies and people asked, ‘Well what about these other things?’ the previous stance would be ‘We only have a certain number of slots to make movies per year. That’s still true but we have another outlet that I think will be very unique and very special.”
With keeping stories to the film medium, Feige says it limited them in the amount and type of story they can tell.
We are going to tell stories for the streaming service that we wouldn’t be able to tell in a theatrical experience — a longer-form narrative, that’s what comics are, it’s about as long-form a narrative as exists. But also maintaining that theatrical experience, which is our bread and butter, and the lines around the block, if you’re lucky.”
Right now only Loki is confirmed to be in production for the service, but there are confirmations of a Vision and Scarlet Witch series in development as well.
Other rumors include a Winter Soldier and Falcon series, and a Rocket Raccoon and Groot series.
Disney + is expected sometime in Fall 2019.
