Keri Russell in Talks For Guillermo del Toro’s ‘Antlers’

Now that The Americans has wrapped on FX, Keri Russell seems to be a top choice in Hollywood for major studio roles. Fresh off the news that she was in talks to star in the upcoming Star Wars: Episode IX, Russell is also set to star in Guillermo del Toro’s upcoming supernatural thriller Antlers with Fox Searchlight, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

If she books the role, Russell would star as “as a teacher who takes an interest in a mysterious and withdrawn student. Only too late does she discover that the boy is harboring a deadly secret that is key to their town’s survival.”

Del Toro recently walked away with the Academy Award for Best Director for The Shape of Water, which definitely puts his next few projects high on everyone’s radars, however, he will only be taking a producing credit for Antlers with Crazy Heart director Scott Cooper at the helm. The script will be written by Nick Antosca and Henry Chaisson.

Russell’s breakout role was on The WB’s Felicity, where she played a young girl navigating college in NYC. The series ran from 1998- 2002 and also starred Scott Speedman and Scott Foley. Since Felicity, Russell has proven herself to be one of the most diverse actresses in Hollywood with roles ranging from Waitress and August Rush to more action based films such as Mission: Impossible III and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. Most recently she appeared in The Americans alsongside Matthew Rhys where the two played Russian agents posing as an American family. The series was nominated for an array of both Emmy Awards and Golden Globes. It recently wrapped after its sixth season.
