Kelly Ripa posted a video on her Twitter account on April 30th that teased the announcement of her new morning show co-host. Kelly Ripa joined the Live! family as Regis Philbin’s co-host in 2001 and became the host of the show after Philbin retired in 2011. She was joined by Michael Strahan from 2012 to 2016 and after his departure, co-hosts have joined Kelly on the series.

The announcement of her permanent co-host is big news for fans of the morning show. Although her guest hosts have been fantastic, it’s nice to have a routine set up.

Last year, Kelly spoke to People about the process of finding a co-host for the show that she holds dear to her heart.

You want somebody working there who’s comfortable working there. That’s how you figure it’s like a puzzle. It’s very much like an equation, an algorithm. Let’s see, if we put somebody here and somebody there, and, ‘Oh, this guy really likes to talk about this,’ or, ‘This guy’s really good here,’ or, ‘This lady is amazing,’ or, ‘She was great last time, let’s give her another shot.’

Some of Kelly’s co-hosts included Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Andy Cohen, Neil Patrick Harris, Morris Chestnut, and Busy Phillps.
