Fans of The Matrix Resurrections may be disappointed to know that Keanu Reeves is doubtful there will be a follow-up. While the movie was divisive among both critics and fans alike, it certainly has its defenders, and some say it’s one of the very best in the series.

But it looks like there won’t be a two or three to complete the trilogy. Reeves, who has been in all four movies, told Yahoo! that he doubts there will ever be another chapter. “I don’t know,” he said when asked if there would ever be a sequel. “That’s up to Lana.”

In an interview with Empire Magazine, Keanu Reeves has said that he doesn’t believe there will be another movie in the series. This is a big deal because it could break your heart if you’re one of those people who love The Matrix. Here are some things you should know about Keanu’s decision:

The news comes from an interview with Keanu Reeves where he basically said that he doesn’t “vote” for another movie because the final film already wrapped up, and there isn’t much more to say about it. This probably means that Lana Wachowski won’t direct another Matrix movie.

The film is a bit of a meta-commentary on movie reboots themselves, with Reeves once again donning the role of Neo, reimagined as the demure videogame programmer Thomas Anderson, renowned for his work in creating a trilogy of Matrix videogames. In this newer, deadlier artificial world than in past films, Carrie-Anne Moss’s Trinity also makes a comeback.

Here are 6 things you should know about it:

* The film is set in 2029 and is darker than past films

* It features more action scenes with stunt doubles and computer-generated imagery (CGI) to create them

* Much like the first trilogy, it takes place in the Matrix

* The Wachowskis are writing the script with Zak Penn

* The film had a 2020 release date

* It’s unclear how many episodes will make up this new trilogy.

Director of the Matrix sequels, Lana Wachowski, commented on the prospects of a future Matrix film. She stated that they had considered it, but it’s not something that is set in stone. This statement was in response to comments made by Keanu Reeves about the possibility of a fourth Matrix film.

Reeves said that if Lana did want to make a fifth Matrix movie and “invited” him back, he would happily take part. “If she invites me again, I’m in!”
