Katy Perry Announces 2017-2018 Tour and Album Title

Katy Perry made her big announcement, and it’s more than fans were expecting. On May 14th, she teased a short video clip on social media with an occasionally blinking eye set to lyrics asking for a witness. Fans expected a new single from the teaser, but instead, got an announcement for a tour and for the title of her fourth album.

According to Billboard, Katy Perry’s album and tour are both named Witness and the album will drop on June 9th. Fans have already heard two songs, ‘Chained to the Rhythm’ and ‘Bon Appetit’, and have also heard Katy talk about this album as being different than ones in her past. She said that she let go of the image she’d built up for herself, both in her own head and in the media, and she wanted to embrace the other side of who she is.

Katheryn Hudson is different than Katy Perry, she said in an interview recently, and she took time off before writing this album to rediscover her. We imagine the album and the tour will focus on her embracing who she is and what’s going on around her during the same time.

Billboard shared part of a release that announced the new album and tour.

‘Perry “reflects on the changes in her own life and in the world around her, delivering songs that both challenge and inspire.’

Just months after she releases her album, she’ll kick off the tour. The North American dates were released today and it begins on September 7th in Columbus, Ohio and finishes on December 20th in Miami, Florida. The tour will begin again on January 5th, after the holidays.

Tickets purchased for the tour will come with a copy of her Witness album and $1 from each ticket will be donated to Boys & Girls Clubs of America. She also partnered with the Boys & Girls Clubs of America for some ticket donations to club members and volunteers; there are also chances to earn free tickets by joining Global Citizen.

We’re looking forward to hearing Katy’s new album and are inspired by her partnership with Boys & Girls Clubs of America. Hopefully, it will inspire her fans to give back and learn more about the organization as well.
