Junkie XL Confirms His ‘Justice League’ Score Is Complete

Despite Justice League being over 2 years old now its presence has yet to fade. Alongside Momoa and various other sources, it has become clear that Zack Snyder’s cut is more complete than we think. The film’s original composer, Junkie XL, has shed some light on the renowned Synder Cut.

Originally, Tom Holkenborg (Aka Junkie XL) who provided the music for many epic movies like Mad Max: Fury Road and worked with Hans Zimmer on Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, was set to compose Justice League.

For some reason Junkie XL was replaced by Danny Elfman. Now, the score that Elfman wrote up was by no means bad. The theme for the Flash and the incorporation of the classic Batman and Superman themes were absolutely wonderful. But there was something definitely missing and some of it just didn’t quite fit.

While I can’t confirm why Junkie XL was replaced, I do have my own thoughts. Considering the tone of Batman v Superman and the overall tone of the music, I believe the criticisms surrounding notions of being “too dark” are partly to blame. After people claimed that the Man of Steel sequel was too dark, Warner Bros. stepped in to ensure that Justice League was different. That meant re-filming a majority of it and crafting a new score that suited the new tone.

However, when Snyder departed in the wake of a family tragedy it was believed that Joss Whedon was brought in to complete Synder’s version. This definitely wasn’t the case. The film’s drastic deviation from Snyder’s original vision has caused quite the response. A response that has travel all over the world and has been painted on the sky and on buildings.

Talking to Screen Rant, Tom Holkenborg revealed what has become of his original soundtrack.

“The full score is still there. It’s a really great score, and it’s just there. It never goes away. We’ll see what happens in the future, you know?”

When ask about whether fans will ever hear what was originally planned, here is what Holkenborg had to say.

“I have no comment on that. But I’m just saying, it’s there. The full tracks.”

I am a believer in the Snyder Cut and I believe it is complete and eventually I think someday we will get it. I think fans have caused quite the commotion with social media posts, signs, billboards and even petitions. There is no guarantee that we will get it but I’d like to think it’s something the fans deserve.

As a massive fan of Junkie XL, I can only imagine what he wrote and if Mad Max: Fury Road and Batman v Superman are anything to go by, then it would have been epic.

The Snyder Cut will continue to pop up until it is released. That’s a fact. People are going to continue to wonder and want it and people like Snyder and Momoa who discuss it and share details about it will only continue to fuel our desire for a vision created by someone with a lot of passion. Say what you will about Zack Snyder, but he was a comic book fan at heart and he loved those characters dearly.

Do you think we will ever see the Snyder Cut? And do you think it is complete? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
