Josh Brolin Discusses Taking on the Roles of Thanos and Cable

When it comes to the superhero world, you’re either a total hero or an evil villain. Even those who seemingly exist in the grey area always have a strong pull in their hearts to protecting what’s right or fighting against it.

Josh Brolin is one of those guys who has taken on the superhero realm, and he just so happened to do it in two very different, but very big ways. He recently spoke to Collider about playing two important roles, Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War and Cable in Deadpool 2.

He loves playing Thanos, in fact, he says it’s one of the best times he’s had. While we already know we’re going to loathe his character when we leave the theater after seeing Infinity War – it’s clear he’s given this role his all.

I had a really good time. I mean look, I’ve had a blast playing Thanos. I mean, that’s been one of the most fun jobs I’ve ever had.

He then flipped a switch to take on another super role as Cable, and it’s something he wasn’t sure he was going to take at first.

We were supposed to start May 8th with Roger Deakins shooting and all this kind of stuff, and then it fell through at the last second. And right after it fell through, this Deadpool thing came in and they said, ‘Are you interested in doing this?’ At first, I was like, ‘I don’t know. I want to do George and Tammy.’ My wife – thank God – said to just read it, saying, ‘Why are you even talking? Just read it.’ I was thinking too big about the four-picture deal. So, on my phone, I remember I read it. It was so reverent and funny and hysterical that once I got through it I was like, ‘That’s it’ and I had no idea about the fan-base. I had no idea what it represented, and I think we’ve made something really special.

From what we’ve seen so far, he seems made for the role, so we’re really glad his wife convinced him to read the script. We laughed the entire way through Deadpool, and we anticipate Deadpool 2 will top it. Especially because the cast is so involved in the film, and we all know that dedication and passion make the experience better for all of us.

You can see Brolin as Thanos in Infinity War May 4th, 2018 and as Cable in Deadpool 2 sometime during 2018 as well.
