Johnny Depp is a busy man, and he just added another large project to his calendar as he signed up to star in an upcoming film titled King of the Jungle.
The film is based on a magazine article from Wired titled ‘John McAfee’s Last Stand’. Joshua Davis wrote the article and the film will follow the story of John McAfee, McAfee AntiVirus creator, and his wild and crazy story.
John moved to a compound in Belize where he lived wildly, and we don’t just mean staying up late or having 3 glasses of wine when you only said 2. John was fascinated with guns, sex, and general craze. Johnny Depp will take on the role of John as he’s interviewed by a Wired reporter. The reporter will find out that he’s actually causing more harm than good for John, as Entertainment Weekly states, he actually becomes part of John’s escalating paranoia. Oh…and there’s a murder.
The true story of John McAfee’s life will likely be played up a bit for the film, but he was never tried for the murder you’ll undoubtedly learn about in the film or the subsequent crimes. John and his wife are back in the United States as residents of Tennessee.
The film is being called a dark comedy and will be directed by Glenn Ficarra and John Requa and the script is being written by Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski.
In addition to this film, Johnny is also starring in Murder on the Orient Express, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them 2, and Labyrinth.
