Johnny Depp Meets-Up with Lawyer Camille Vasquez at His Concert in Prague

Johnny Depp and his lawyer Camille Vasquez got the opportunity to reconnect outside the courtroom at a recent concert. They were able to see each other at the European leg of his tour with legendary guitarist Jeff Beck.

The pair were seen together in Prague, Czech Republic on Monday night. They were laughing and joking backstage during Beck and Depp’s concert promoting their album, 18. Vasquez also introduced her star client to her boyfriend, the British WeWork executive Edward Owen. Depp promptly pulled him in for a hug. Other members of Depp’s legal team were also present, with Jessica Meyers and Samuel Moniz joining their conversation, according to the Daily Mail.

This little reunion happened just days before Depp’s ex-wife, Amber Heard, had her request for the verdict to either be set aside or have a mistrial declared rejected by a judge. The judge denied her complaints surrounding the identity of one of the jurors. However, Heard will still have the opportunity to appeal the final verdict. Last month, Depp won his lawsuit against Heard with a Virginia jury ruling that she is liable on three counts of defamation.

The actor was awarded $10 million in compensatory damages and Heard was also ordered to pay an additional $5 million in punitive damages. However, in the state of Virginia, punitive payments are capped at $350,000. This means that the total amount the actor will receive is $10.35 million. The jury also awarded Heard compensatory damages of $2 million as part of her countersuit against Depp after his lawyer called her claims a “hoax” in the Daily Mail, among other inflammatory statements.

Some people began to guess that Depp’s lawyer was dating him because they were friends. This is not true and it’s sexist to think that this is the only reason they could be friends.” She told People in June, “It’s disappointing that certain outlets kind of ran with it or said that my interactions with Johnny—who is a friend and I’ve known and represented for four-and-a-half years now—that my interactions in any way were inappropriate or unprofessional.

That’s disappointing to hear.” Not only is Vasquez already in a “very happy” relationship, but she also noted that it is “unethical for us to date our clients. It’s also an unethical charge being made. It’s sexist. It’s unfortunate and it’s disappointing, but at the same time it kind of comes with the territory. I can’t say I was all that surprised.”

She added, “I care very deeply about my clients, and we have obviously become close. But when I say we, I mean the entire team, and of course that includes Johnny. And, I’m Cuban and Colombian. I’m tactile. What do you want me to say? I hug everyone. And I’m not ashamed about that.” And in terms of her client, the lawyer said, “This man was fighting for his life and it broke my heart to see him day in and day out have to sit there and listen to the most horrific allegations being made against him. And if I could provide any bit of comfort, then of course I would do that, whether it’s holding his hand or letting him know that we were there and we were going to fight for him because he deserved it.”
