John Stamos Reconciles with Olsen Twins After Their Decision to Skip Fuller House

The close-knit Full House cast experienced a notable absence when the spin-off series Fuller House aired from 2016 to 2020. Mary-Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen, who played Michelle Tanner since infancy, chose not to return to their iconic role due to their retirement from acting and focus on their fashion careers. John Stamos, initially disappointed with their decision, has since let go of his unhappiness. During an appearance on the podcast “And That’s What You REALLY Missed,” hosted by Kevin McHale and Jenna Ushkowitz, Stamos discussed his relationship with the Olsen twins.

Stamos credited fellow cast member Bob Saget for keeping the Full House family connected and acknowledged that he didn’t have much interaction with the twins after they moved to New York. However, he revealed that his initial anger towards their absence from Fuller House subsided quickly. Stamos shared, “But they just were, ‘We loved our childhood. We loved being with you. We miss Bob.’ They came over to my house. They brought a pork chop and sage. I don’t know why, but thank you? It was a frozen pork chop, so that was really nice. So we stayed very close.”

Interestingly, Stamos revealed a little-known fact about his early experience with the Olsen twins on Full House. At just 11 months old, the twins faced the possibility of being fired when Stamos, along with co-star Dave Coulier, struggled to handle them during a scene. However, the replacement babies brought on set turned out to be even more challenging, prompting Stamos to insist, “Bring the Olsens back! These kids are terrible.”

Although Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen didn’t participate in Fuller House, the bond among the Full House cast remains strong. Full House can currently be streamed on Hulu.
