Social media erupted with glee when they discovered that the villain for the solo Batman movie would be Deathstroke. The famous DC Villain would finally be featured in a blockbuster picture. After the Manu Bennet did a phenomenal job at bringing the character to life on the CW’s hit TV series Arrow, fans of the iconic DC Villain grew nervous at who would be taking on the role, since DC likes to seperate their TV and Movie castings.

Last year, when it was announced that True Blood star Joe Manganiello would be taking on the role, fans raved at the casting choice. The announcement of him officially securing the role came in the form of test footage of the actor in-action, which was released by Ben Affleck. However, since then, fans have become worried about whether Manganiello is as attached to the solo Batman film as they once thought, since there have been so many changes in the production shift; with Matt Reeves being the new director.

With so much change, it’s easy for fans to worry over whether Manganiello has retained his place in the DCEU – but it looks like on DC Comics creator is set on having the star play Deathstroke. The co-creator of Deathstroke is all for Manganiello’s take on the villain, and Marv Wolfman opened up about his support for the star on Facebook.

“After a great lunch with Joe Manganiello, I feel more confident than ever that we got both the Slade Wilson the movies need and the Deathstroke great movies deserve,” Wolfman wrote.

Ever since Joe Manganiello went public with his casting, he has stressed how hard he is preparing for the role. Most recently, the actor spoke with Total Film about his prep for the Batman solo film, and Manganiello is doing more than just working out.

“I’m very excited,” he told the magazine. “I just started kung fu, qigong and cutting with a live katana blade.

“I grew up rooting for the villain. These characters mean so much to so many people and there’s a real opportunity to polarise the audience or have them walk away maybe not agreeing with my character but understanding why he does what he does. That’s a really fun challenge.”

Fingers crossed!! We are certainly excited to see Deathstroke storm across the big screen!!
