JK Rowling Reveals a Second Harry Potter

We all know the Potter family: Lily and James, their son Harry; his wife Ginny and their kids James, Lily and Albus. But that’s about all we know aside from the Dursleys.
J.K. Rowling recently revealed in a Pottermore post that there is far more to the Potter family tree.
It seems like the Potter lineage began with the inventor of Skele-gro, Linfred the Stinchcombe. Linfred, whose nickname was “the Potterer” created many potions and remedies that are still in use today. His nickname, over time, simply became “Potter.”
But that’s not the most interesting aspect in the Potter line: There was a another Harry Potter and he is the great-grandfather to The Boy Who Lived.
Henry Potter, known as Harry to his friends, served on the Wizengamot from 1913-1921 and caused a bit of a raucous when he publicly condemned then Minister for Magic, Archer Evermonde, who had forbidden the magical community to help Muggles waging the First World War. He was always very outspoken when it came to Muggles. And this is why the Potters were excluded from the Sacred Twenty-Eight, the twenty-eight British families that were still “truly pure-blood” by the 1930s.
Sound familiar? Kind of like the Harry we know and love, who is always ready to help those who need it.
Henry’s son, Fleamont Potter, created the magical Sleekeazy’s Hair Potion and is the father to James Potter. Fleamont and his wife died of Dragon Pox before meeting James’ son Harry, The Boy Who Lived.
And the rest is history.
