Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve seen the video of a passenger being violently removed from a United Airlines flight, and while violence is never an appropriate response to conflict, the man did absolutely nothing to warrant removal from the aircraft at all. In fact, all he did was sit in a seat with a ticket that he purchased. That’s it.
United overbooked (somehow) their flight and when no one would volunteer to get off of the plane, they picked four people at random. Why was this necessary, you may be wondering? It was because other United workers needed to get to Louisville, KY to make other flights. The airline put their own needs in front of the needs of their passengers. The male who was forcibly removed was a doctor who needed to get back to his patients, but this wasn’t important enough to United.
Many celebrities have spoken out against United and the horrible treatment of the man. One of those celebrities was Jimmy Kimmel. Kimmel spoke of the incident on his late-night show and even showed ‘United’s new protocol video’ to his audience.
While the video isn’t technically from the staff at United, it may as well be. You can see so for yourself below.
Sometimes, humor is the only way to try to process life when things like this happen, and it certainly was in this instance. While Kimmel seems to laugh a few times at what went on, the shock and disbelief are obvious on his face.
United did, in fact, make the statement’s that Kimmel showed on his late-night show, and honestly, it didn’t make things any better. In fact, people think less of the company now than ever.
Seems like Kimmel is onto something with that new United slogan.
‘…but I knew him’
