Jennifer Lawrence’s New Movie ‘Burial Rites’ Sounds Killer

While her latest role in Darren Aronofsky’s mother! may not have made quite the splash she would have hoped, Jennifer Lawrence’s next role is sure to get some critical love and attention. It was recently announced that the Academy Award-winning actress is set to star in a new period drama called Burial Rites, based on the 2013 Hannah Kent novel of the same name.

In 1830, she became the last woman to be publicly executed in Iceland, and the film follows Agnes as she awaits her execution, imprisoned at an isolated farm.”

Lawrence will be playing Agnes and it will be directed by Luca Guadagnino, fresh off of his recent award season favorite Call Me by Your Name. Sony Pictures’ TriStar will distribute the film.
