Jennifer Lawrence‘s filmography encompasses a wide range of projects, from acclaimed dramas to blockbuster hits. While many associate her with her role as Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games series, Lawrence recently revealed that she came close to joining another popular young adult franchise. During an appearance on The Rewatchables podcast, Lawrence disclosed that she initially auditioned for the first Twilight film but was promptly rejected. The specific role she auditioned for remains unknown, whether it was Bella Swan or another female character.

Lawrence confirmed, “I auditioned for ‘Twilight.’ They turned me down immediately. I didn’t even get a callback. But my life would’ve been totally different. I got ‘Hunger Games,’ I think, like, a year later. It was probably after ‘Winter’s Bone.'”

In the same interview, Lawrence shared that she almost declined The Hunger Games due to the enormous fanbase that had emerged around Twilight. She explained, “I was still in a franchise, so I was still trying to counteract the franchise-ness. I’d still be doing that if I was in ‘Twilight.’ But I almost didn’t do ‘Hunger Games’ because ‘Twilight’ had come out and that fandom had happened.”

Describing the challenges she faced when deciding to accept The Hunger Games, Lawrence spoke about the level of fame associated with the role. She stated, “When I was trying to talk to people about making this decision after [‘Hunger Games’] got offered to me, it was hard to explain to people… this level of fame. I assumed it was going to be the ‘Twilight’ level of fame, and that was never something I had in mind. I never wanted to be the most famous person on the planet. That’s a very different life than I pictured for me.”

Regarding a potential return to The Hunger Games franchise, Lawrence expressed her willingness to reprise her role as Katniss Everdeen during an interview with Variety. Despite the original book series concluding on screen, Lawrence stated, “Oh, my God – totally! If Katniss could ever come back into my life, 100 percent… My producing partner just clutched her heart.”

In the present, Jennifer Lawrence stars in the film No Hard Feelings, currently playing in theaters. The movie follows Maddie (played by Lawrence) on the verge of losing her childhood home. She stumbles upon an intriguing job opportunity: wealthy helicopter parents seeking someone to “date” their introverted 19-year-old son, Percy, before he departs for college. As Maddie embarks on this unexpected journey, she realizes that the awkward Percy is far from a sure thing. The film also features Matthew Broderick, Laura Benanti, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Natalie Morales, Scott MacArthur, and Andrew Barth Feldman. It is produced by Alex Saks, Marc Provissiero, Naomi Odenkirk, Lawrence, and Justine Ciarrocchi, with John Phillips serving as executive producer.
