Aretha Franklin is showing R-E-S-P-E-C-T to Jennifer Hudson by giving the young singer her blessing to portray her in the new biopic about her life ‘Queen of Soul‘. There are few singers who can bring down a house like Aretha Franklin but if anyone can come close it is Jennifer Hudson.
The legendary singer took her fans by storm in the 60’s with hits like ‘Respect’ ‘Chain of Fools’, ‘Think’ and ‘(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman’. She did not stop with just the stage she moved on to acting in such films as ‘The Blues Brothers’, ‘The Big Chill’ and even ‘Sex and the City’.
In 2004, Jennifer Hudson took the world by storm herself with her performances on ‘American Idol‘ but she was eliminated to the dismay of all her fans. However, her elimination did not hold her back. She went on to win an Oscar for her role as Effie White in ‘Dreamgirls‘.
Producer Clive Davis made the announcement that Franklin had hand-picked Hudson to portray her in the upcoming movie as he introduced Jennifer Hudson to perform at his pre-Grammy party Saturday night. According to screenrant.com, no other details were announced. I am sure they will have amazing cast but I have no doubt that Jennifer Hudson is more than capable of caring the entire film on her talented shoulders.
