NBC’s latest musical series Rise may be hitting airwaves right now, but Fox has a little something up their sleeve as well. The network has just booked Jenna Dewan Tatum to star alongside Callie Hernandez (Graves) and Madeline Stowe (Revenge) in their new musical drama pilot Mixtape.
“Very excited and grateful to be a part of this incredible show with such an amazingly talented cast! Link in bio to learn more❤,” the star shared on Instagram.
Mixtape is described as a ” romantic musical drama that looks at a disparate group of interconnected people in contemporary Los Angeles through the lens of the music that defines who they are. Mixtape captures the different stages of love, exploring if time can heal a broken heart and if love can withstand life’s tragedies.” The series will be in great and familiar hands as former Smash and Quantico showrunner Josh Safran will be taking the lead behind the camera.
Dewan Tatum will be playing Joanna, “a young professional with everything always under control. She’s the most rational person she knows. And yet she’s a little guarded as if always prepared for the worst.” Most recently, Dewan Tatum has been serving as a mentor on World of Dance and she previously starred in Lifetime’s Witches of East End (below).
While we’ve never heard her sing in any of her projects we certainly know that she can dance and put on one heck of a performance, just watch her Lip Sync Battle against her husband Channing Tatum for further proof.
Are you excited for a new musical series like Mixtape?
Having studied Media & Writing at James Madison University, I always knew that I wanted to do some type of creative writing, but being able to write about zombies, Starks, and superheroes on a daily basis for Fan Fest is my actual dream. While I probably shouldn’t be as proud as I am to be so similar to Nick Miller, I do hope to one day write my own “Pepperwood Chronicles’.
