Jay-Z Honors Chester Bennington with Special Performance of ‘Numb/Encore’

Music is the universal language. It bridges barriers, brings people together, heals, and sets a soundtrack to our lives. We all have music that takes us back to a memory so clearly, we can close our eyes and it feels it. For many of us, the collaboration between JAY-Z and Linkin Park stole the show, and continues to shine in the industry.

JAY-Z and Linkin Park’s Numb/Encore won in the category Rap/Sung Collaboration at the Grammy Awards in 2006. The song was at the top of the charts and fans across both genres of music loved it. It was a song that blended perfectly, each genre enjoying its own spotlight in the same mix.

At U.K.’s Virgin V Festival Sunday night, JAY-Z performed the song with Chester’s voice on a track, ringing loudly through a crowd cheering loud enough for ‘heaven’ to hear. JAY-Z rapped the tune perfectly while the crowd joined in when he asked them to scream.

Hearing Chester’s vocals on the video posted to Twitter pulled at our hearts, we can’t imagine being there in person. The audience did an incredible job of letting JAY-Z know how much the song meant to them and they really did get loud enough for their applause to reach Chester.

Mike Shinoda tweeted to JAY-Z that the band appreciated him, and fans across the world do as well.

Thanks, JAY-Z, for that special moment. It won’t soon be forgotten.
