James Gunn has revealed some exciting news for Guardians of the Galaxy fans as he teased a release date for the 3rd film while thanking fans for their support with Guardians 2.
The fan asked if he had any idea on a Guardians of the Galaxy 3 release date, he gave a window of time that aligns perfectly with the schedule fans were already anticipating.
A little under 3 years puts us in 2020 and as Polygon reported, there are 3 open dates in which the film could be released that year.
Those dates are May 1st, August 6th, and November 7th. Since the first two Guardians films were smer releases, it’s safe to assume that Guardians 3 would be released on that May 1st or August 6th spot.
In August, Gunn revealed that Guardians 3 will set up years worth of films in the MCU which means that no matter the release date, the film will surely be a huge success.
‘One of the things I’m doing with creating Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 — it will take place after the next two Avengers movies, and it will help to set up the next 10, 20 years of Marvel movies. It’s going to really expand the cosmic universe. We’re going to be setting up new characters.’
With Infinity War comes some incredible losses, so we are excited about the idea of new characters but it already feels strange imagining the MCU without the familiar faces we’ve grown to know and love over the last 10 years.
We will have to wait until 2019 to see what happens with the end of Avengers 4, and by 2020, we have a feeling that we will need that new film to start rebuilding what we lose when our favorite superheroes battle Thanos.
What do you hope to see from Guardians 3? Any special characters you hope join the MCU? Let us know.
