Jake Gyllenhaal in Talks for ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ Sequel

The upcoming sequel for Sony and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Homecoming just got a lot more mysterious!

Jake Gyllenhaal is reportedly in early talks to join the film as the classic villain Mysterio according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, Mysterio (aka. Quentin Beck) was first introduced into the Spider-Man comics in 1964. While the character does not have actual superhero capabilities, he uses his talents as a special effects expert to create illusions as diversions in order to commit crimes.

Tom Holland will be reprising his role as the web-slinging Spider-Man and Jon Watts will be returning to direct along with the first film’s screenwriters Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers.

The sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming is slotted to be released on July 5, 2019. What do you think about Jake Gyllenhaal potentially joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section below.
