J.J Abrams’ Superman: Possible Timeline And Story Details Revealed By THR!

There’s a Superman film coming, another reboot since we can’t go forever without seeing a reboot come out. The new film will star a black Superman and will be the very first time the character is black on the big screen. Now possible timeline and story details were revealed by THR! It’s all very exciting if it is true and gives us an idea of what to expect from this upcoming reboot.

The film is being written by Ta-Nehisi Coates (Black Panther: World Of Wakanda, Captain America). Other than that there is not very much we’ve been able to learn about the upcoming film. This newest report is shedding some light on some possible key details of the upcoming Superman reboot. This new Superman movie is being touted as possibly being in its own standalone universe. Does that mean we may never see this Superman be a part of a Justice League?

Calvin Ellis Or Clark Kent?

THR says,

The Superman film appears to be moving onto its own track and won’t be part of the universe, as of now. Sources tell THR that Coates is crafting a Kal-El in the vein of the original Superman comics and will have the protagonist hail from Krypton and come to Earth. While the story is currently being crafted and many details could change, one option under consideration is for the film to be a 20th century period piece.

People haven’t really been talking about the film too much yet. That’s probably because of the fact that so few details are known. The debates will most likely start once we get a confirmation on the characters and story. Changing the races of famous superheroes has become the point of a lot of debate in recent years. No doubt we’ll see people debating this too once the cast list starts coming out. Superman at least has a precedent for this.

The small amount of buzz that is there has been rather supportive. DC fans seem excited at the idea of Calvin Ellis being the next live-action Superman. It’s not like we’ll be losing Clark Kent right? There’s an awesome version of him currently being portrayed on Superman And Lois.

Ta-Nehisi Coates will turn his script in this December, apparently. That still gives Warner Bros. and DC plenty of time to figure everything out. Hopefully, we have some more news to share by then.
