‘iZombie’ Recap: “Brainless In Seattle, Part 2”

The two-parter concludes with some answers and new discoveries that are bound to cause some trouble on this week’s iZombie.

Liv’s still on that hopeless romantic brain, which means that the search for “Tim” is still on while also continuing the search for the Dutch Oven Killer, the man responsible for Annie’s death.

Her continued search for the man she was convinced was “the one” and toggling between herself and her inner-Bridget Jones was fun to watch most of the time until she came up against figuring out what to do about seeing Dale at the Scratching Post with another guy.

Liv’s continued determination to set Clive up with the new uniformed police officer, Michelle (who is definitely Arrow’s Carly Diggle, right?), may come from a place of love for her friend and her desire to see if she can find someone better than Dale for Clive but loses that appreciative point of view once we find out exactly what is going on between Clive and Dale.

After fate’s own attempt at a meet cute in the elevator (at least according to lovestruck Liv), we find out exactly what is going on with Clive and Dale…they are in an open relationship. A fact that would have been fine had it not been for the heartbreaking face Clive wears as he explains it to Liv. He loves Dale and is willing to do anything to make it work.

Though it was surprising to hear, it makes sense considering where we found the pair in the premiere and how Clive was struggling with human/zombie relations.

Elsewhere on iZombie, Ravi seemingly volunteers himself to help catch the Dutch Oven Killer with a funny cover story and interesting accent. The team is able to catch the serial killer after successfully luring the man down to the basement/tunnel/incinerator where the team found the skulls in the incinerator.

While Liv, Clive, and Ravi were on the hunt for a killer, Blaine doubled his efforts to find Renegade so he can deliver them to Chase and finally gain his freedom again. Blaine does this while on loose-lipped brains which led to him letting slip how much of the zombie cure he has to Don E., touching on his unhappy childhood, and a hilarious conversation with a restaurant patron.

All of it leads to a vision Blaine gets that leads him right to Renegade at the laundromat. She’s not able to get far and is dragged into Chase’s office. The thing is, what will he do with her now that he knows who she is?

Angus’ church comes back into play this week as Tucker, the guy who was scratched by one of Major’s new recruits, tries to find his place on the zombie side of life in New Seattle. He seems quickly taken by the church and the enthusiasm which probably won’t mean anything good down the line. There was another connection to Angus’ church besides Tucker throughout the hour—Tim!

Yes, the man that Liv was searching for the better part of the hour and convinced was her soul mate. It turns out Tim Timmerson (yes, Timmerson) is not only a new member of the church but unfortunately believes that humans are inferior and are merely meant to be a food supply for zombies.

Though she disappointed in that discovery about Tim, Liv discovers that the people she’s surrounded herself with, Ravi, Peyton, and Major, may very well be the people who could be considered her soulmates. Cue adorably sweet voice over and fun dance-off montage. That one scene may be one of my favorites of the episode and highlights some of the friendships…well, that and Major’s wrestler voice courtesy of the wrestler’s brain he was on.

And that’s it for this week. What did you think of the episode? What do you think Chase is going to do with Renegade? Anyone else feel terrible for Clive and the situation he is in? How cute was that last scene?
